A 50-year-old woman and 47-year-old man were injured when a van struck them in Marine Park Friday evening, police said. The driver fled the area after the incident, they added. The man died later. Police have located the vehicle and there's more to come.

A lady by the name of Jessica Cawthon who is related to the couple wrote on Facebook:

I need you're help:

Yesterday there was a fatal hit and run on Flatbush Avenue across the street from Kings Plaza. A van hit a couple, the driver looked back, and kept driving. That couple is one of the most loving, kind, and generous dynamic duo that I have ever had the honor of knowing. The male, a man who I consider an Uncle, was too injured to recover and passed away at the hospital with his family standing by. The female, a woman who I consider an Aunt and who has helped in raising me, caring for me, and looking out for me, is still in critical condition. Her family is standing at her bedside with tears in our eyes, prayers in our thoughts, and any ounce of hope we can gather. We have already lost one piece of our hearts and we are trying not to loose it's matching piece.

So I ask you, if you know anything that could help us to find out who did this; who ripped pieces of our hearts away when he decided to hit and run like a coward, please make an anonymous phone call to 1 (800) 577-TIPS. You will be bringing justice to an event that instantly destroyed an entire family.

I have personally crossed over Flatbush Avenue to get to Kings Plaza countless times, as I'm sure most of you. Please think about how easily this could have been someone you loved. If you know something, say something.
