Anti-social media bill splits online campaigners and why I support such a bill #HNNImpact

I've made a U turn to so many activist like things because of radicalism online which has to be curbed. The Punch Reports why I support a social media bill now. To stop those people who use it to slander and defame public figures, myself being one of those public figures.

Interestingly, a section of the online community, including those who had earlier condemned the bill, has made a U-turn, urging the lawmakers to go ahead with it.

In this group is the daughter of a former governor of Oyo State, Omololu Olunloyo, Kemi. Ms. Olunloyo – a former key member of the #NoToSocialMediaBill campaigners. She urged the Senate, on Monday, to go on with the bill, which she said would protect public figures against online attacks.

Olunloyo, who is popularly known as controversial Kemi on social media, and her group have created a rival hashtag – #YesToSocialMediaBill. It is used to counter the argument of those who are opposing the bill.

Online activists had argued that social media could only be relevant to socio-political development if they remained uncensored.
